Alumni – Valerie McConnell
Valerie McConnell completed her final MPH6005 Capstone paper entitled “Enhancing African American Maternal Health: Birth Doula Support.” She is moving forward to start the MPH program at ECU with focus on Community health and health behavior within African American population. She is a dedicated community health worker, with expertise in fine-tuning health, financial operations and in implementing operational improvements. She has provided for more than twenty years in the spiritual and community based organization in the Washington, DC, Bermuda and North Carolina area. With focused on connecting non-profits and community-based organizations to implement, evaluate and disseminate evidence-based preventive health activities programs which develop solutions and management strategies to eliminate health disparities. Her studies in the healthy living are based on over twenty years of study, teaching, life experience, an application.
